Al-Fātiḥah

The Opening (Qur'an 1)

The greatest surah in the Qur'an.

  1. أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

    Aʿūdhu billāhis-samīʿil-ʿalīmi minash-shayṭānir-rajīm

    I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from Satan the outcast.

  2. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ١

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  3. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ٢

    Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil-ʿālamīn

    All praise is for Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

  4. الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ٣

    Ar-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

  5. مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ٤

    Māliki yawmid-dīn

    Master of the Day of Judgement.

  6. إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ٥

    Iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn

    You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.

  7. اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ٦

    Ihdinaṣ-ṣirāṭal-mustaqīm

    Guide us to the straight path,

  8. صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ

    Ṣirāṭal-ladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim

    the path of those You have blessed,

  9. غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ ٧

    Ghayril-maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn

    not of those who earned anger, nor of those who went astray.

Al-Baqarah 1–5

The Cow, verses 1–5 (Qur'an 2)

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. الم ١

    Alif Lām Mīm

    Alif Lām Mīm.

  3. ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ٢

    Dhālikal-kitābu lā rayba fīh, hudal-lil-muttaqīn

    This is the Book — no doubt in it — guidance for those mindful of Allah,

  4. الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ

    Alladhīna yuʾminūna bil-ghaybi wa yuqīmūnaṣ-ṣalāh

    who believe in the unseen and establish prayer,

  5. وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ ٣

    Wa mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn

    and spend from what We have provided them;

  6. وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ

    Walladhīna yuʾminūna bimā unzila ilayka wa mā unzila min qablik

    who believe in what was sent down to you and what was sent down before you,

  7. وَبِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ ٤

    Wa bil-ākhirati hum yūqinūn

    and are certain of the Hereafter.

  8. أُولَٰئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدًى مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ

    Ulāʾika ʿalā hudam-mir-rabbihim

    They are upon guidance from their Lord,

  9. وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ٥

    Wa ulāʾika humul-mufliḥūn

    and it is they who will succeed.

Āyat al-Kursī

The Verse of the Throne (Qur'an 2:255)

Protected from the jinn until the evening.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ

    Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm

    Allah — none has the right to be worshipped but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all.

  3. لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ

    Lā taʾkhudhuhū sinatuw-wa lā nawm

    Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him.

  4. لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ

    Lahū mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ

    To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth.

  5. مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ

    Man dhal-ladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahū illā bi-idhnih

    Who can intercede with Him except by His permission?

  6. يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ

    Yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum

    He knows what is before them and what is behind them,

  7. وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ

    Wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾim-min ʿilmihī illā bimā shāʾ

    and they grasp nothing of His knowledge except what He wills.

  8. وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ

    Wasiʿa kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ

    His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth,

  9. وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ

    Wa lā yaʾūduhū ḥifẓuhumā

    and guarding them does not tire Him.

  10. وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ ٢٥٥

    Wa huwal-ʿaliyyul-ʿaẓīm

    He is the Most High, the Magnificent.

In the Evening:

Protected from the jinn until the morning.

Qur'an 2:255 · al-Ḥākim 1/562 (ṣaḥīḥ, al-Albānī) · Ḥiṣn al-Muslim 75 · al-Albānī graded it ṣaḥīḥ (Ṣaḥīḥ at-Targhīb 662), but elsewhere judged the morning-and-evening wording an irregular (shādhdh) addition (aṣ-Ṣaḥīḥah 7/743).

Al-Ikhlāṣ

Sincerity (Qur'an 112)

The three Quls, said three times morning and evening, suffice you against everything.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ١

    Qul huwallāhu aḥad

    Say: He is Allah, the One.

  3. اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ٢

    Allāhuṣ-ṣamad

    Allah, the Self-Sufficient.

  4. لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ٣

    Lam yalid wa lam yūlad

    He neither begets nor was begotten,

  5. وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ٤

    Wa lam yakul-lahū kufuwan aḥad

    and there is none comparable to Him.

Al-Falaq

The Daybreak (Qur'an 113)

The three Quls, said three times morning and evening, suffice you against everything.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ١

    Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbil-falaq

    Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,

  3. مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ٢

    Min sharri mā khalaq

    from the evil of what He created,

  4. وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ٣

    Wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab

    from the evil of darkness when it settles,

  5. وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ٤

    Wa min sharrin-naffāthāti fil-ʿuqad

    from the evil of those who blow on knots,

  6. وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ٥

    Wa min sharri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad

    and from the evil of an envier when he envies.

An-Nās

Mankind (Qur'an 114)

The three Quls, said three times morning and evening, suffice you against everything.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ١

    Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbin-nās

    Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

  3. مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ٢

    Malikin-nās

    the King of mankind,

  4. إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ ٣

    Ilāhin-nās

    the God of mankind,

  5. مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ٤

    Min sharril-waswāsil-khannās

    from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws,

  6. الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ٥

    Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūrin-nās

    who whispers into the hearts of people,

  7. مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ ٦

    Minal-jinnati wan-nās

    from among jinn and people.

Al-Baqarah 285–286

The last two verses of The Cow (Qur'an 2)

Suffices whoever recites them at night.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm

    In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  2. آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ

    Āmanar-rasūlu bimā unzila ilayhi mir-rabbihī wal-muʾminūn

    The Messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers.

  3. كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ

    Kullun āmana billāhi wa malāʾikatihī wa kutubihī wa rusulih

    Each believes in Allah, His angels, His books and His messengers.

  4. لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِ ۚ

    Lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadim-mir-rusulih

    [saying,] “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.”

  5. وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ

    Wa qālū samiʿnā wa aṭaʿnā

    And they say: “We hear and we obey.

  6. غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ٢٨٥

    Ghufrānaka rabbanā wa ilaykal-maṣīr

    Your forgiveness, our Lord; to You is the return.”

  7. لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ

    Lā yukallifullāhu nafsan illā wusʿahā

    Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.

  8. لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ ۗ

    Lahā mā kasabat wa ʿalayhā maktasabat

    It gains what good it has done, and bears what evil it has done.

  9. رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ

    Rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭaʾnā

    Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make mistakes.

  10. رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا ۚ

    Rabbanā wa lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran kamā ḥamaltahū ʿalal-ladhīna min qablinā

    Our Lord, do not place on us a burden like the one You placed on those before us.

  11. رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ

    Rabbanā wa lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bih

    Our Lord, do not burden us with what we cannot bear.

  12. وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۚ

    Waʿfu ʿannā waghfir lanā warḥamnā

    Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us.

  13. أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ ٢٨٦

    Anta mawlānā fanṣurnā ʿalal-qawmil-kāfirīn

    You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.

Supplications

Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥal-mulku lillāh

All dominion belongs to Allah

  1. أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥal-mulku lillāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh

    We have entered the morning, and all dominion belongs to Allah; all praise is for Allah.

  2. لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ

    Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah

    None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner.

  3. لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    Lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr

    His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is capable of all things.

  4. رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَٰذَا الْيَوْمِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ

    Rabbi asʾaluka khayra mā fī hādhal-yawmi wa khayra mā baʿdah

    My Lord, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what follows it,

  5. وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَٰذَا الْيَوْمِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ

    Wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhal-yawmi wa sharri mā baʿdah

    and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what follows it.

  6. رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَسُوءِ الْكِبَرِ

    Rabbi aʿūdhu bika minal-kasali wa sūʾil-kibar

    My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the evils of old age.

  7. رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ

    Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fin-nāri wa ʿadhābin fil-qabr

    My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.

In the Evening:

Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāh

  1. أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

    Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh

    We have entered the evening, and all dominion belongs to Allah; all praise is for Allah.

  2. رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهَا

    Rabbi asʾaluka khayra mā fī hādhihil-laylati wa khayra mā baʿdahā

    My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows it,

  3. وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا

    Wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihil-laylati wa sharri mā baʿdahā

    and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it.

Muslim 2723b · Ḥiṣn al-Muslim 77

Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā

By You we live and die

  1. اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا، وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا

    Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā

    O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening,

  2. وَبِكَ نَحْيَا، وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

    Wa bika naḥyā, wa bika namūtu, wa ilaykan-nushūr

    by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the resurrection.

In the Evening:

Allāhumma bika amsaynā

  1. اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا

    Allāhumma bika amsaynā

    O Allah, by You we enter the evening,

Sayyid al-Istighfār

The best way to seek forgiveness

Paradise if you die that day, having said it with certainty.

  1. اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant

    O Allah, You are my Lord; none has the right to be worshipped but You.

  2. خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ

    Khalaqtanī wa ana ʿabduk

    You created me and I am Your servant,

  3. وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ

    Wa ana ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika mastaṭaʿt

    and I hold to Your covenant and promise as best I can.

  4. أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ

    Aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt

    I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done.

  5. أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي

    Abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayya, wa abūʾu laka bi-dhanbī

    I acknowledge to You Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge to You my sin,

  6. فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Faghfir lī, fa-innahū lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā ant

    so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.

In the Evening:

Paradise if you die that night, having said it with certainty.

al-Bukhārī 6306 · Ḥiṣn al-Muslim 79

Allāhumma fāṭiras-samāwāti wal-arḍ

Refuge from the evil of oneself and of Satan

  1. اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ

    Allāhumma fāṭiras-samāwāti wal-arḍ, ʿālimal-ghaybi wash-shahādah

    O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen,

  2. لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ

    Lā ilāha illā ant, rabba kulli shayʾin wa malīkah

    none has the right to be worshipped but You, Lord and Sovereign of all things.

  3. أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشَرَكِهِ

    Aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī, wa min sharrish-shayṭāni wa sharakih

    I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, and from the evil of Satan and his snares,

  4. وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي سُوءًا، أَوْ أَجُرَّهُ إِلَىٰ مُسْلِمٍ

    Wa an aqtarifa ʿalā nafsī sūʾan, aw ajurrahū ilā muslim

    and from committing evil against myself or bringing it upon a Muslim.

Allāhumma innī aṣbaḥtu ush-hiduka

Calling Allah to witness your testimony of faith

Said four times, Allah frees you from the Fire.

  1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ

    Allāhumma innī aṣbaḥtu ush-hiduk

    O Allah, this morning I call You to witness,

  2. وَأُشْهِدُ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ، وَمَلَائِكَتَكَ، وَجَمِيعَ خَلْقِكَ

    Wa ush-hidu ḥamalata ʿarshika, wa malāʾikataka, wa jamīʿa khalqik

    and I call the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels and all Your creation to witness,

  3. أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Annaka antallāhu lā ilāha illā ant

    that You are Allah; none has the right to be worshipped but You,

  4. وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ

    Wa anna Muḥammadan ʿabduka wa rasūluk

    and that Muhammad is Your servant and messenger.

In the Evening:

Allāhumma innī amsaytu ush-hiduka

  1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَمْسَيْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ

    Allāhumma innī amsaytu ush-hiduk

    O Allah, this evening I call You to witness,

Bismillāhil-ladhī lā yaḍurru

Protection through Allah's name

No sudden affliction will strike you until evening.

  1. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ

    Bismillāhil-ladhī lā yaḍurru maʿasmihī shayʾ

    In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can cause harm

  2. فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ

    Fil-arḍi wa lā fis-samāʾ

    on earth or in the heavens,

  3. وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

    Wa huwas-samīʿul-ʿalīm

    and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

    I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion,

  2. وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا

    Wa bi-Muḥammadin nabiyyā

    and with Muhammad ﷺ as my prophet.

Allāhumma mā aṣbaḥa bī min niʿmah

Every blessing is from Allah alone

Gives the thanks due for the day.

  1. اللَّهُمَّ مَا أَصْبَحَ بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ

    Allāhumma mā aṣbaḥa bī min niʿmah

    O Allah, whatever blessing I have this morning

  2. فَمِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

    Fa-minka waḥdaka lā sharīka lak

    is from You alone, without partner,

  3. فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ

    Fa-lakal-ḥamdu wa lakash-shukr

    so Yours is the praise and Yours is the thanks.

In the Evening:

Allāhumma mā amsā bī min niʿmah

  1. اللَّهُمَّ مَا أَمْسَى بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ

    Allāhumma mā amsā bī min niʿmah

    O Allah, whatever blessing I have this evening

Asking for well-being and protection

The Prophet ﷺ never failed to say these morning and evening.

  1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

    Allāhumma innī asʾalukal-ʿāfiyata fid-dunyā wal-ākhirah

    O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter.

  2. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ

    Allāhumma innī asʾalukal-ʿafwa wal-ʿāfiyah

    O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being

  3. فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ، وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي

    Fī dīnī wa dunyāya, wa ahlī wa mālī

    in my religion and my worldly life, my family and my wealth.

  4. اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي، وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي

    Allāhummastur ʿawrātī, wa āmin rawʿātī

    O Allah, cover my faults and calm my fears.

  5. اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي

    Allāhummaḥfaẓnī min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfī

    O Allah, protect me from in front of me and from behind me,

  6. وَعَنْ يَمِينِي، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي

    Wa ʿan yamīnī, wa ʿan shimālī, wa min fawqī

    from my right, from my left, and from above me,

  7. وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي

    Wa aʿūdhu bi-ʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī

    and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being struck down from beneath me.

Declaring Allah's oneness

    Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah

    None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, without partner.

  2. لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    Lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr

    His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is capable of all things.

Asking Allah to set right all your affairs

Taught by the Prophet ﷺ to Fāṭimah.

  1. يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ، بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ

    Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūm, bi-raḥmatika astaghīth

    O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all, by Your mercy I call for help.

  2. أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ

    Aṣliḥ lī shaʾnī kullah

    Set right all my affairs,

  3. وَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ

    Wa lā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn

    and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Glorifying Allah by the number of His creation

  1. سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ

    Subḥānallāhi wa biḥamdihī, ʿadada khalqih

    Glory and praise be to Allah, as many times as the number of His creation,

  2. وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ

    Wa riḍā nafsih

    as much as pleases Him,

  3. وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ

    Wa zinata ʿarshih

    as much as the weight of His Throne,

  4. وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

    Wa midāda kalimātih

    and as much as the ink of His words.

Khayra hādhal-yawm

Asking for the good of this day

  1. أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

    Aṣbaḥnā wa aṣbaḥal-mulku lillāhi rabbil-ʿālamīn

    We have entered the morning, and all dominion belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

  2. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَٰذَا الْيَوْمِ

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka khayra hādhal-yawm

    O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day:

  3. فَتْحَهُ، وَنَصْرَهُ، وَنُورَهُ، وَبَرَكَتَهُ، وَهُدَاهُ

    Fatḥahū, wa naṣrahū, wa nūrahū, wa barakatahū, wa hudāh

    its openings, its victory, its light, its blessing and its guidance,

  4. وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِيهِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ

    Wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fīhi wa sharri mā baʿdah

    and I seek refuge in You from the evil in it and the evil after it.

In the Evening:

Khayra hādhihil-laylah

  1. أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

    Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāhi rabbil-ʿālamīn

    We have entered the evening, and all dominion belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

  2. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka khayra hādhihil-laylah

    O Allah, I ask You for the good of this night:

  3. فَتْحَهَا، وَنَصْرَهَا، وَنُورَهَا، وَبَرَكَتَهَا، وَهُدَاهَا

    Fatḥahā, wa naṣrahā, wa nūrahā, wa barakatahā, wa hudāhā

    its openings, its victory, its light, its blessing and its guidance,

    O Allah, grant me well-being in my body.

  2. اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي

    Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī samʿī

    O Allah, grant me well-being in my hearing.

  3. اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي

    Allāhumma ʿāfinī fī baṣarī

    O Allah, grant me well-being in my sight.

  4. لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Lā ilāha illā ant

    None has the right to be worshipped but You.

  5. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ

    Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqr

    O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty.

  6. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

    Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābil-qabr

    O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave.

  7. لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

    Lā ilāha illā ant

    None has the right to be worshipped but You.

Aṣbaḥnā ʿalā fiṭratil-Islām

Upon the natural faith of Islam

  1. أَصْبَحْنَا عَلَىٰ فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ

    Aṣbaḥnā ʿalā fiṭratil-islām

    We have entered the morning upon the natural way of Islam,

  2. وَعَلَىٰ كَلِمَةِ الْإِخْلَاصِ

    Wa ʿalā kalimatil-ikhlāṣ

    upon the word of sincerity,

  3. وَعَلَىٰ دِينِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ

    Wa ʿalā dīni nabiyyinā Muḥammadin ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam

    upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ,

  4. وَعَلَىٰ مِلَّةِ أَبِينَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا

    Wa ʿalā millati abīnā Ibrāhīma, ḥanīfam-muslimā

    and upon the way of our father Ibrahim, upright, a Muslim (submitting to Allah),

  5. وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

    Wa mā kāna minal-mushrikīn

    and he was not of those who associate partners with Allah.

In the Evening:

Amsaynā ʿalā fiṭratil-Islām

  1. أَمْسَيْنَا عَلَىٰ فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ

    Amsaynā ʿalā fiṭratil-islām

    We have entered the evening upon the natural way of Islam,

Aḥmad 15360 · Aḥmad 15363 · Ḥiṣn al-Muslim 90 · Morning: ṣaḥīḥ (al-Albānī). Also in the evening: chain ṣaḥīḥ per Ibn Bāz; al-Albānī judged that addition irregular (shādhdh).

ʿIlman nāfiʿā

Beneficial knowledge, good provision, accepted deeds

Morning Only

  1. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا

    Allāhumma innī asʾaluka ʿilman nāfiʿā

    O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge,

  2. وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا

    Wa rizqan ṭayyibā

    good and pure provision,

  3. وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

    Wa ʿamalan mutaqabbalā

    and deeds that are accepted.

  1. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

    Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā āli Muḥammad

    O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

  2. كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

    Kamā ṣallayta ʿalā Ibrāhīma wa ʿalā āli Ibrāhīm

    as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim;

  3. إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

    Innaka ḥamīdum-majīd

    You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.

  4. اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

    Allāhumma bārik ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā āli Muḥammad

    O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

  5. كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

    Kamā bārakta ʿalā Ibrāhīma wa ʿalā āli Ibrāhīm

    as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim;

  6. إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

    Innaka ḥamīdum-majīd

    You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
